Husk completes 1MW C&I solar project for Nasarawa State Government

LAFIA, 17 Dec 2025 — Today, Husk announced the commissioning of a major new solar project to power the Nasarawa State Secretariat, the hub for key state government institutions. Working alongside partner Step Engineering, Husk handled the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) for the commercial and industrial (C&I) scale project.
The project is a 1MWp solar hybrid facility that will support Nasarawa’s clean energy transition for key government institutions, and significantly reduce energy costs. Under the project's innovative delivery model, Husk managed the EPC and will be responsible for transferring knowledge to the Nasarawa Government while supporting critical operational requirements of the plant for an initial 24 months. While project components were all sourced from globally renowned OEMs, and with the requisite warranties in place, delivery was still below market benchmark, showcasing yet again Husk's unique delivery approach and market advantage.
“Nasarawa State has been an unwavering supporter in helping to scale Husk’s operations in Nigeria,” said Olu Aruike, Vice President of Business Development for West Africa and Nigeria Country Director. “This project further deepens the strong relationship with the state, and demonstrates the huge untapped potential for C&I solar in Nasarawa and across government agencies and businesses in Nigeria.”
Husk has had a strong presence in Nasarawa State since 2021, and has deployed a range of projects in the state, including over 40 isolated minigrids across 9 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and several other large C&I projects, including a 1.3MWp system completed in April 2025 for Olam Agri, a major international agrifood conglomerate.
The Nasarawa State Secretariat Solar project will ensure low to zero diesel consumption from the time of commissioning. The solar hybrid system will enhance voltage stability, ensuring a reliable power supply while delivering fuel cost savings and substantially reducing carbon emissions.
Nigeria’s C&I solar market is rapidly expanding, with over 550MW of new solar capacity expected to be added by 2029. Husk’s collaboration in Nasarawa underscores the company’s mission to provide renewable energy solutions for businesses and industries, helping accelerate Nigeria’s transition from diesel to solar power and powering prosperity.
